Silly killdeer

They seem to like laying their eggs in gravel. However, a driveway is not the best place to do it.

Kathy Kellogg stood guard over the nest she had discovered just as we were leaving the farm Sunday morning, but I stopped to take a picture of the eggs:

I have to remember that we're in their territory...

On a side note, as we were pulling in on Saturday, Honey and Duncan came out to greet us. They were trotting along at the side of the car as they usually do, but suddenly Honey dashed in front of the car to chase the mother killdeer whom she had spotted on the nest. I came darn close to running her over. That would have been the very end of me - and I still shudder at the prospect.

Glad you're not so old a wolf that your driving reflexes stink.
