Look Back | Look Forward

Well, against my better judgment but in total harmony with my stated purpose, I have committed to staff a leadership camp for teenagers at the Tyalgum Ridge Retreat (we think that's where it will be) in the vicinity of Brizzbin, in January of 2010. When it's warm down there, and cold up here - perfect time to go. And since I'm making the long journey, I'll be staying a while longer to see a few things and a few people.

Ozzies, mark your calendars and lay in mighty stocks of Vegemite, roo, camel, emu and barramundi. And whatever other strange things you wild and untamed folks eat. Camp's from 1-12 to 1-17, and I'm thinking I'll prolly stay a couple of weeks longer. Maybe we could do a little OzzieCon at some location central to Sydney, Dubbo and Newcastle?

Still figuring out how I'm going to get around. Maybe rent a motorcycle? Ride in the pouch of a roo?

Lots of time to figure that out, while I'm looking for a decent fare to Brisbane and back.

By Mogg's adamantium teeth, there are times I regret being teetotal... but we can make the best of what we got. I'm always happy to blow things up, even if I'm sober.

Excellent! You'll be here for Australia Day! I hope you like lamb 8)

Old Wolf had a little lamb
A little pork, a little ham,
A little egg, a little toast,
Some pickles, and a great big roast.
An ice cream soda, topped with fizz...
And boy, how sick our Old Wolf is!

Bring it on...

Also, In Sydney you can't visit Western Plains Zoo, The Dish or the Warrumbungles.

Just saying.

Fine, fine. I've got these on my map. By the silken breast of Mogg's mother, I'd need two years to even scratch the surface of the country... any other brilliant ideas of things I should see between Brisbane and Sydney?

Brisbane in the middle of summer? I really hope you like heat and humidity...

Couldn't be any worse than the Kellogg Farm in June...

[Edit: And I hope you'll be available for our OzzieCon!]

Brilliant!! Should be great fun!

If you come in via Sydney and make your way 2 hours north I will have a car you can use for the duration of the trip. There always seems to be a spare kicking around here somewhere :-D

in fact there's cheap direct flights to Newcastle from Brisbane, I can just pick you up from the airport. You won't be driving a rental from Murwillumbah to Sydney hehe

With the use of a car and a few days travel (and a lot of petrol money)you can visit Western Plains Zoo, The Dish or the Warrumbungles. (but probably not all three unless you like driving for a week)

AussieCon sounds like a darn fine plan to me. Find me somewhere I can light a fire and I'll make damper and a kangaroo roast with white and orange sweet potato and veggies. mmm now I'm hungry

These are good suggestions. I'll stay in touch as I work out the logistics and see what my best options are. Thanks for the offer of a car, I may just take you up on that. As long as it's not this one:

urp urp

By the fuzzy paps that Mogg nuzzled, I can't wait!

Vegemite, roo, camel, emu and barramundi

"Well, you can live on it, but it tastes like [hqiz]."

I'll be curious to see what I can really sample while I'm down there...
Aug. 6th, 2009 07:35 pm (UTC)
All those are available to try... And tasty!!

Unfortunately, I don't remember what sustenance Dundee was talking about in the above quote.

IIRC it was open flame roasted snake and goanna (monitor lizard)

It's been a while since I saw the film, but I think it was some kind of lizard...
