Bakk from Feenix

Well, it was a good trip - especially since we made it back in one piece, which was not a guarantee at some points.

Incredible architecture

Looks just like a brownstone

We stayed at the Excalibur

But we ate dinner at the Fiamma in MGM. This grilled octopus was as tender as the finest filet mignon, and tasted like steak...

There were also roasted beets:

Saw the Hoover Dam... the water level is low.

Panorama from my window in Tempe where the seminar was held:

On the way out of Tempe. Those saguaros have sharp thorns...

This Navajo weaver at the Cameron trading post was just finishing up this rug. It took her 40 hours a week for 4 months. I didn't ask the price...

35°56'38.84"N, -111°39'22.56"W; Medotter stands by one of the Little Colorado overlooks with 1000-foot sheer cliffs. We were lucky to see these, the Grand Canyon had ø visibility.

By the time we got to the Vermillion Cliffs, the snow was pelting down hard, and the roads had accumulated about 4" of snow. We barely made it to Jacob Lake, and found this inviting inn to spend the night. This is what it looked like the next morning.

The roads were still bad. Some folks weren't careful...

They closed the road through Zion's because even the rescue vehicles were sliding off into the ditch.

Stopped for lunch at a greasy spoon in Panguitch, Utah. Had a hard time deciding between the "fish and chiips" and the "hambergers".

Today Molly got detailed as a reward for her travails. Her carpets are clean, her vinyl sparkles.

Glad you got home safe.

As for Vegas, isn't it impressive? The Luxor is my favorite building in the US, just now. Though many of them are simply amazing to behold. I need to go back and get a picture of the MGM lion.

And you should go back and try this little place in the forum shops. Their calamari is to die for. (Can't remember the name of it, but it's right next to a shop called "Shooz."

And how did the "fish and chiips" and the "hambergers" taste?

Probably about as good as the "takko salllad" that I had. About what you'd expect from Panguitch, Utah. But it was filling...

The Hoover Dam is a neat structure.

Vegas just keeps reminding me of Dubai, even though Dubai isn't quite as 'entertaining', so to speak :P

How big a tail did Molly have before?

Sad. Pitiful. May that stuffed penguin bite you on the nose.

Actually, if you had seen her, she was pretty caked with snow and ice, so I'd say about 3 inches...
