Russian Blacksmith's Home

The home of a Russian blacksmith in a village near Yekaterinburg city. They say the blacksmith himself passed away and his wife regularly gets purchase offers, but she is not interested in selling it.

Invoking Hansel and Gretel in an opium dream, the craftsmanship on this home defies description.

The words on the sign are "May there always be sunshine, may there always be sky," two lines of the chorus from the famous Russian song:

Пусть всегда будет солнце,
Пусть всегда будет небо,
Пусть всегда будет мама,
Пусть всегда буду я!

May there always be sunshine,
May there always be blue skies,
May there always be my mama,
May there always be me!

I don't know whether to applaud or say, "Too much!"

quite stunning,
I suspect it's slightly less 'over the top' for Russians than it would be for most North Americans

I don't blame the lady for not selling! That house is unique!
