25 Summer Movies We Can't Wait to See

Well... at least Entertainment Weekly (I think their abbreviation "EW" is totally appropriate, by the way) can't wait to see all of these. You know how you can look at a new restaurant in your neighborhood and just sigh, and say "I'll give them 6 months" without even trying their fare? More often than not, if you're an average diner, your prediction will be right. So here, for my gratuitous pleasure, is my take on these films even before they come out.

Thor (May 6) - I was planning on seeing this anyway, even before Howard Tyler had reviewed it (I trust the man). Sounds like a great ride.
Bridesmaids (May 13) - Gork. Pass. I might watch it with my wife on DVD if she thinks it's cute.
Pirates: On Stranger Tides (May 20) - Probably will wait until this hits Redbox.
Kung Fu Panda 2 (May 20) - If it happens to happen, so be it. No great anticipation here.
The Hangover Part II (May 26) - Gork. Pass. Gratuitous offensiveness coming right up.
The Tree of Life (May 27) - Looks intriguing.
Beginners (June 3) - Has promise. I bet Plummer is awesome.
X-Men: First Class (June 3) - No brainer. Yes, I'll be there.
Super 8 (June 10) - Possible popcorn flick.
Green Lantern (June 17) - No brainer. Yes, I'll be there.
Mr. Popper's Penguins (June 17) - This one looks like fun. I'll catch it via Netflix.
Bad Teacher (June 24) - Real schools are bad enough without watching a Hollywood version about the worst of the worst. No, thank you.
Cars 2 (June 24) - Netflix or Redbox. Maybe.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (July 1) - Not much hope here. I'll wait for the reviews before I decide. How much more can they milk out of this franchise?
Larry Crowne (July 1) I'll see this because I love watching Hanks' work.
Zookeeper (July 8) - Netflix or Redbox.
Harry Potter: The Orgasmic Climax (July 15) Mother of Mogg, do you need to even ask? Duh Duh Duh
Captain America: The First Avenger (July 22) - Not likely. Looks cheesy. If Rotten Tomatoes gives it a high enough rating, it may cross my screen.
Crazy, Stupid, Love (July 29) - Looks absolutely vapid. Pass.
Cowboys & Aliens (July 29) - Westworld, anyone? I'll see what people are saying before I gamble a buck.
The Smurfs (July 29) - Blaugh. Eeeurgh. Hörk! - I'd rather rake my eyeballs out with a fork.
The Change-up (August 5) - Might as well throw in a few fart jokes while you're at it. Pass.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes (August 5) - Could be a loser, but I'll see it anyway. Looks like it has possibility.
The Help (August 12) - Absolutely and without question. This looks like a rockin', sockin' winner.
30 Minutes or Less (August 12) - I am almost moved to blaspheme. Pass.

So by August 12, we'll see how my predictions pan out. I'd be interested in differing opinions.

The only one of those I'm determined to see is HP. I'll give consideration to each superhero movie, S8, and the two animations. Knowing my mom, she'll see Project Nim, and so will I.
